SHEFALI ARORA- FOR

Mark Twain said,”India is the cradle of human race,
                          the birthplace of human speech,
                          The mother of history,
                          The grandmother of legend,
And the great grandmother of tradition.”

A hello to my friends out there. I am for the topic that we are proud of India.
The unity in Diversity is the main reason of being proud to be an Indian. We have different languages, different cultures, foods, clothes and traditions still we are united and stand firm on our ground despite repeated efforts by the outsiders to divide us.There was a time when India was being invaded by a host of foreign conquerors, ruled by them, but still India fought back bravely and has today reached where it is.
The efforts of our great leaders, like Mahatma Gandhi,Bhagat Singh,Lokmanya Tilak etc. at the time of British rule makes me proud of my country. They showed  incredible courage and wisdom to save our country from the Britishers and taught us the most valuable lesson of brotherhood and harmony. Their wisdom and leadership qualities made us win in the long run for freedom.India has gone through a lot,but faced every hurdle bravely. India got her independence through non-violent means, and is even today trying to keep up this valuable tradition. It has always criticised and stood up against unjust attacks throughout the world.

Our nonviolence, democracy, intelligence based on our high standards of education are the other points that make us proud of our
India.
We have devotion, culture ,and humanity which strengthens us. Great people like Lord Rama.Lord Krishna,Swami Vivekanand took birth here, and made our country proud by the spiritual  power they gave to us.The Ramayana,Mahabharata,Bhagwada Gita are indeed some precious books that our generations will continue to read and feel the same.

India is the country which is full of diversity in its physical features too. And the cultural diversity is impeccable. The large variety of classical arts, embroidery work, folk dances are found in no other country of the world. It is India where people of all the religions are living together in peace and harmony, bonded in a golden thread.

India has proved itself in all fields..be it technical, medical etc. Rakesh Sharma was the first Indian to go into space followed by Kalpana Chawla and Sunita Williams. Sportsmen like Sachin Tendulkar,Abhinav Bindra, Viswanathan Anand,Leander Paes have left a mark in their respective fields.   Indira Nooyi is the highest ranking Indian woman in the corporate world in America. Who can forget Kiran Bedi? Not only this, Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai have excelled in the world of glamour and made India proud. The list is just endless. India is the hub now for medical tourism ,with people across the globe coming to get the medical treatment here. So I do not find any field in which India has not excelled.
And then the players who have outshined others in the ongoing commonwealth games. So much criticism was faced by India before the games by the media..but then India gave us a reason to be proud of it once again..the Australian prime minister has remarked that India is even ready for the next Olympics. Makes me feel so proud to be a part of this magnificent country.
India is the place where values are given utmost importance . The family orientation, the respect of traditional values, the feeling of oneness makes India different from all the other countries in the world.
India has given a platform to the best of the people in the entire world. It is Indians who are dominating the world today. Women of India have proved themselves in every field today.
According to a latest survey in Germany,
38% of Doctors in America are Indians.

12% of Scientists in America are Indians.

36% of NASA employees are Indians.

34% of MICROSOFT employees are Indians.

28% of IBM employees are Indians.

17% of INTEL employees are Indians.

13% of XEROX employees are Indians
I am reminded of the great song- ‘Saare Jahaan Se Acha Hindustan Hamara. Hum Bulbule Hain Iski,Ye Gulistan Hamara’
Yes, everything about my country makes me proud of it..I AM PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN.
