DEEPTI BAGGA- AGAINST

The motherland who has given us our grain and shelter is undoubtedly to be proud of.it is surely honorable but am sorry folks,i don’t really feel my chest swoon when i think of her present state
rather my shoulders droop with helplessness and shame...
i look around and i find myslf staring at mere despair and pain
thinking aloud, who is the perpetrator of all this...
it’s none but me and thee!!!
India constitutes its land, its waters ,its wildlife, its natural resources but  most importantly its human power .those human resources who are struggling hard enough to defame her, trampling  upon her crushing her  for their own selfish needs.

I,as an aware citizen am greatly disturbed  by the nonchalant attitude of our brethren to any situation largely at hand .For instance to make taj mahal one of the seven wonders of the world we all voted our hearts out;but in the near past ,does anyone of us remember doing anything to save the marble’s marvel  from being corrupted by gas fumes? The answer is a sad ,painful NO.
Such is the hypocrisy of the nation ,that we support one cause in one breath and in a jiffy we run away from it to support a more ‘critically acclaimed’ one.
Let me come to a more familiar notion ,India being a seat of learning housed  the universities of taxila and nalanda ; giving great examples to the world of guru shishya relationship  ,now  is distressed from the cries of her bruised students at the  hands of their ‘honourable’ teachers. What possible explanation anybody has to offer of that?None ,i believe.
A country where her ‘future’ is badly shattered can never dream of being proud.
India gave the world the first lesson in civic amenities via the Harappas’ famous town planning and drainage system. This is surely something to cherish but NOW the condition of all the roads when god ‘indra’  showers is dilapidated.

A country which is the largest democracy in the world shows duplicity when some unruly parties mercilessly ouster non speakers of  local language from their self proclaimed lands. This act of sure cowardice sends signs of clear disunity among the nation. Is that to be proud of?
India a place where the  seeds of communal divide sown by the british are still reaping its fruits in the form of the ayodhya issue and godhra riots ,while we still boast of our rich and varied cultural diversity.true to its fact we are home to different shades of people of the world ,but have we been able to integrate them?
Till now kashmir is boiling with indignation and is furious with all the false promises made to it.amidst such pitiful situation ,the distress failed to even  raise eyebrows of DELHI.Quite resentful...!!the country which gave the world the slogan of ‘sarvadharama kutumbakam’ is under a lot of pressure, indeed.
our country has inherited a glorious past ,the legacy of ashoka the great , imperial guptas and the great mughals but now its high time we are charged the ‘inheritance tax’.Yes,the right to enjoy the respect of the world due to our past heroes is limited by the deeds of the present.are we carving out a India that BAPU and CHACHA dreamt of?
let me tell you what truely enshrines this nation now ,red tapism ,a non functional bureaucracy,a weak executive  and a blind judiciary, chalta hai attitute of denizens and to make heads turn ,100% freedom of media.a deadly combination indeed!
india which once was known for its justice especially in times of jahangir who had a bell which could be rung in times of need,is today better  known by ‘justice delayed is justice denied ‘.a mockery of our judiciary is the ruthless murder of priyadarshini mattoo, and pratibha who just received justice after long years of wait.

I am no enemy of my nation, rather am deeply in love with it and that’s the sole reason i want to point out her ,rather our pitfalls. let us wake up to make ourselves once again proud;afterall the best motivating is self motivating.
