Hello Dear Judges,my Fellow mates and my Opponents. I am PRERNA and My Topic is WE ARE INDIANS- ARE WE PROUD OF INDIA?? And I am speaking 'for the motion'.

ALBERT EINSTEIN rightly quoted that "We owe a lot to the Indians, who taught us how to count, without which no worthwhile scientific discovery could have been made."

I should consider it as my privilege that I got to talk about The Magnificent INDIA whose denizens we are. It it is a great great country that we live in and we should consider it as our luck to be be born on such a fertile land. Rightly,we call it 'THE LAND OF LORDS'.

With more than 3000 years old history of a civilisation, India lies way above in terms of discoveries and inventions.For example,Sulabh Sutra describes pythagorus theorem predating Pythagoras by 300 years .The fastest and simplest way of mathematical calculations is VEDIC MATHS made by SHANKARACHARYA . The world's 1st University was established in TAKSHILA 700 BC, and many more.

India today stands tall among the comity of nations. Today, India is one of the fastest growing emerging nations in the world.When the entire world ,including USA which is considered the most powerful nation,was in the tentacles of Global Financial Meltdown,Indian economy was the least affected.

I feel elated to name those personalities whose achievements have taken India to next level of techology . For example Mr. Vinod Khosla who is a fouder of Sun Micro systems , Aziz Premji the CEO of Wipro Industries is the third richest man in the world, the Ambani brothers ,who took the world by a storm and stand tall as one of the major pillars supporting India .

  

We as Indians can definitely feel proud of our rich heritage, the symbol of love Taj Mahal , which was ranked first in the tough competition of the seven wonders of the world. 

The rich legacy of our Epitome of Truth and Non-violence (Mahatma Gandhi), whom the world still holds in great reverence and history mentions him THE FATHER OF THE NATION.

Unity and brotherhood among people of different religions makes the country one of the most tolerant and liberal in the world. Here Hindus embrace their Muslim counterparts during Id, and Muslims greet their Hindu friends during the Festival of Light (Deepawali).The sanctity maintained at the time of BABRI MAZJID verdict, showed that we Indians are one when it comes to being the hosts of the COMMON WEALTH GAMES.

Even our BOLLY WOOD is winning accolades  Internationally and claiming Oscars and it has already gathered a few in its kitty. The madame TUSSUAD'S has many of our great actors waxed like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai to name a few. Many of our actors have even bagged the opportunity of working in Holly Wood like Naseeruddin Shah, Irfan Khan etc.

We can feel proud of our sports icons who have scaled new heights in their sport events and have made the nation proud. Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar has indeed kept India's tricolour flying high by his batting magic. This living legend has many records to his credit. And the recent one being that he is the First player in the history of cricket to score an unattainable score of 14000 runs in Test Cricket.

How can we forget The Grand opening the CWG !! All INDIANS shivered with amazement and pride seeing the participants reflecting India's culture, festivals,dances.talent and creativity .It was a moment of ecstasy for all Indians out there in the world who had goosebumps on their skin and tears in their eyes.And now,we are even ready to be the hosts for the greatest sporting event- the OLYMPICS.After which we would surely enter the band wagon of the develpoed nations.

Words are few and I could go on and on boasting about our country INDIA.

INDEED WE ARE FORTUNATE TO BE PART OF SUCH A FABULOUS COUNTRY.
